Gabriel...

Had a few minutes this morning to upload a few photos of my youngest grandson...

isn't he the sweetest little guy! He came out and spent the night with us last Friday. He loved being able to play in the big, back yard. We had a great time together and his mommy says he hasn't stop asking when he can come back. Soon, little buddy, soon.
Hope you are having a great week.
Be back soon.

Taking a short break...

The hummingbirds love my bee balm.
Heading out the end of the week for our family reunion and lots to do before we leave.
We are traveling to upstate New York for the reunion this year and I'm looking forward to the cooler weather and seeing everyone again.
My apologies for being so bad about posting the last week or so but it's been a busy time for our family, lots of photos to share when I return next week.
Have a happy and safe Independence Day!
Be back soon.

If it quacks like a duck...

then it must be a duck, or so they say. Ventured out for a few hours on Sunday to a professional photo shoot with my youngest daughter, Sarah. While she was with the photographer, I wandered around and came across these sweet creatures...

a bit camera shy...

strange looking yet beautiful...

bet the neighbors love this guy.
Hope you are having a great week.

Ocracoke Island...

It's been almost a month since we made this trip, sharing a few of my favorite photos...

An extra passenger on the ferry going to the island.

The rehearsal dinner was at Howard's Pub and it was fabulous. Best hush puppies ever!

This historic island home is for sale...it has to be raised, needs all new electric and plumbing plus lots and lots of tender loving care. Asking price $264,900 plus the large sum to make it livable but what a neat little house.

There are a lot of little cemeteries all over the village.
This little house is just behind the house we stayed in, absolutely quaint!

Local fishermen.

Local resident.

Ocracoke Island Lighthouse, the second oldest operating lighthouse in the United States. The house is the original lightkeeper's residence, now divided into 2 seperate private homes.
We loved the island and are making plans to return.
Hope you are having a beautiful weekend.
Be back soon.

They grow up fast...

My little man, Tyler, isn't quite so little anymore. He turned 7 this past weekend, so hard to believe...

Another busy weekend coming up, going away party for Wes tonight (being deployed to Afghanistan on Monday), last game for Tyler plus awards ceremony and graduation party on Sunday for my nephew, Ben, who graduated from high school last night. I'm doing all the cooking for the party tonight so I'll be in the kitchen all day. Trying to get most of the "cooking" done this morning since air conditioning is broken and it's expected to be 90 degrees by this afternoon.
On another note, ended up in the doctor's office last evening. Been having terrible pain and swelling on my left side, in my ribs and hadn't slept much since Monday and by the time my husband got home from work, I just couldn't take it anymore. Advil just wasn't cutting it. It's nothing serious, it's called Costochondritis, evidently I have strained the tissue around where the ribs connect to cartlidge and it's inflammed. Couple of days of medication and I should be good to go. Feeling 90% better this morning.
Have a fantastic weekend!
Be back soon.

Flea market finds...

Stopped at the flea market last Saturday and found a few interesting items...
Old Rook game, a bird book and an assortment of ephemera...

a paper milk cap and an antique photo. The ephemera is mostly telegrams and counter checks from the early 1920's.
a close up of some of the counter checks and assorted items. I paid $4 for all the items shown above.

I got this suitcase filled with sheet music for $5 and that included the suitcase! It's an old Samsonite and is excellent condition. What a bargain.
The sheet music belonged to Ruth and Virginia Edgar and dates from 1896 to 1913. Evidently, everytime they bought or received a new piece they wrote their name and date on the front. In with all the music I also found 2 opera playbills from the same time period.
Hard to believe all the treasures I got for only $9!
Have a great day!
Be back soon.

Stop and smell the roses...

A few photos I took last week of the rose garden at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Amherst...

Aren't they gorgeous!
May not post much this week due to a few orders I have received that need to be filled by this weekend. I also need to scan some great postcards and other vintage items I purchased this past weekend at the flea market so that I can share them with you.
Have a great week.
