Home...

there's no place like home
8 x 10 canvas
Minor surgery on Friday and healing has begun although it's going to be a longer process than planned. Just not getting back to normal as quickly as I would like. Spent Sunday night and all day yesterday in Fredericksburg awaiting the arrival of our 7th grandchild. Jayden Scott Haun arrived yesterday at 2:16pm, 7lbs, 4oz and 19 inches long. He's beautiful and we are so thankful that he arrived healthy. He has been in the NICU since 5am this morning for reflux issues however this afternoon he finally ate without any issues, he's doing great and they should all go home sometime tomorrow. There's no place like home.
I would have loved to stayed with them longer but really needed to get back home so I can get myself well and feeling better. Truly, there's no place like home.
Have a great evening.
Enjoy!

Enjoy the journey...

6 x 6 canvas
Words to live by. I often have to remind myself to slow down.
In the midst of preparing for the festival and exhibit I have coming up, I find myself having a few minor health issues. Nothing too serious but they must be dealt with and all I can think about are all the things I need to get done over the next 2 months. It's a sign, time to slow down, take care of the important things and enjoy the journey.
Enjoy!

I'm not sure about the darkness of the piece. Any thoughts?

In my garden...

It's hotter than hot here today. Too hot to enjoy coffee outdoors however I did take a few minutes to snap several photos of the butterflies and bugs on various plants. Enjoying the air conditioning and hours in my studio. Hope you are having a wonderful day.

Spread your wings...

Spread your wings
8 x 10 canvas
The butterflies were created with modeling paste. I made my own stencil using a craft punch. This was my first attempt and they came out extremely thin however worked well for this piece. Love the way they add dimension.
Enjoy!

You can never have too many Angels...

She enjoyed life
8 x 8 canvas
She's my third and favorite angel. Bought the butterfly paper to make my daughter's graduation card and saved every scrap, just love it.
Getting back into the swing of things, worked on a few pieces last night and have started a couple of new backgrounds this morning. September (art show) and October (exhibit) are just around the corner. Still working on my "numbers" photography art project, want to be able to begin to offer custom pieces by the first of September.
We are in for a week of rain so it's easier to stay indoors and create.
Have a great day.
Enjoy!

Back from the beach...

Sunrise, July 7, 2012
Outer Banks, North Carolina
We had a fabulous vacation, the weather was perfect, everything about the entire week was perfect.
Now it's time to get back to work. We left on the 30th of June after a fierce storm the night before. We lost power just after 9pm as we were loading the car. Our area of Virginia was the hardest hit, power still has not been restored in some areas and it's been 10 days. I was up the following morning at 3am trying to rescue as many plants as I could. We also had a 60 foot tree drop within 20 yards of our home. By 5am we were on the road in search of coffee, dodging trees and debris everywhere. We picked a great week to be gone. Back home now, lots of work to get done. Will post vacation photos soon.
Have a great week.
Enjoy!
