I've been busy...

A couple of journal pages to share.
Busy getting ready for the holiday, one more Saturday at the Market, family gathering Saturday night and then all the kids and grandkids for dinner on Sunday. Lots of cooking to do and then there's shopping and wrapping that needs to get done.  We are way behind schedule, hubby has been sick for over a week but the good news is that his CT scan this morning shows all is normal. He's now on medication with codine and seems to be getting better. It's all good, we'll get it done. We work best under pressure. Hope all is well with your holiday plans.
Enjoy!

Truly blessed...

Monday was my birthday...
Picked up this little bird at the Flea Market in Raleigh.
Love the colors. A little gift to myself.
One of the blooms on the beautiful rose tree I received from my daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren.
Celebrated with family when we got back from our trip. A great dinner, beautiful cards and gifts and wonderful company. What a fabulous day it was...I am truly blessed, each and every day.
Hope all your days are blessed.

A bird and another girl...

Girl No.5
Still trying to get a handle on the hair, having issues. I'm into week 2 and working on scenes. Have two finished, just need to add the girls. My friend, Jean, has also finished a few girls of her own...you can see them here. Now she can do hair!
A busy weekend ahead, hope yours is great!

Happy Groundhog Day...

So, will we have an early Spring or 6 more weeks of Winter?
It has been in the 60's here the last couple of days and I am loving it although I'm certain the cold weather will return soon. That's okay, need several more weeks to finish up numerous projects. Here are a few Artist Trading cards I just finished...
Go Fish
A Bird
Working in as much of the SheArt workshop as I can each day and have another girl to share. Have I mentioned how much I am loving the workshop? Yeah, it's that good!
Happy Groundhog Day!

Hummingbirds...

So good to see them...

Aren't they fascinating!
While I was taking these photos today, one hummingbird was at a pot of flowers right next to my head. I sat really still and he flew right up to me at one point. It was awesome.

A busy weekend ahead, off the the Gallery at the market in the morning and then a visit with the grandchildren. Sunday we are off to explore Salem and will return home via the Blue Ridge Parkway where we will enjoy an picnic supper.

Hope your weekend is fantastic!

This is fascinating to me...

Xandi Schawinsky
Found this in a book that I bought at a sale a few weeks ago. When I first saw the picture, I saw the flowers and it wasn't until a few seconds later that I noticed the birds. When I showed it to my husband, he saw the birds first. I just find the entire piece fascinating.

We picked up the keys to our new place this morning. Although I dislike moving and had hoped not to for a while longer, I'm really excited and beyond ready to get started.
Hope you are having a great week!

Critters...

A few photos of some of the critters that hang out around the house.
Hope your week is going great and you are able to stay out of the heat.
Be back soon.

If it quacks like a duck...

then it must be a duck, or so they say. Ventured out for a few hours on Sunday to a professional photo shoot with my youngest daughter, Sarah. While she was with the photographer, I wandered around and came across these sweet creatures...

a bit camera shy...

strange looking yet beautiful...

bet the neighbors love this guy.
Hope you are having a great week.
Be back soon.

Something new...

I love to recycle and repurpose and recently I was given several cones that had originally held yarn. I knew the moment I saw them exactly what I wanted to do and here is what I came up with...

I've made several and I'm still "tweeking" them but this pretty much gives you the idea. They are much prettier in person and I'll post a few more photos over the weekend. I think these would make lovely favors or decorations for a baby or bridal shower. I'm taking a few down to the gallery this afternoon and have several more to finish up this evening.
No big plans for the Memorial Day weekend although we may take the historic walking tour of Sweet Briar at some point.
Hope you have a fantastic weekend and remember those that sacrifice so much.
Be back soon.

Bluebirds...

Keeping a close eye on the baby bluebirds these days, yesterday I had to chase off a black snake that had gotten within a few feet of their nest.
I enjoy watching them bring food to their young, trip after trip until all are satisfied and listening to the babies chirp, mouths wide open waiting for the next bug or worm. I find it fascinating and I'll be sad when the babies leave the nest and we have to wait until next year for the process to begin again.
Had a fantastic weekend celebrating with family including a surprise dinner at my favorite steakhouse. Good times were had by all!
Working on Father's Day cards and a new project that I'll share within a few days.
Hope you are having a great week.
Be back soon.

Birds & Butterflies...

I've been meaning to post a few photos of the birds and butterflies I created but kept forgetting to take the photos. Finally snapped a few down at the market last Saturday to share...

I love using the black, cream & red combination in my work. For these, I used a variety of patterned papers along with vintage sheet music and pages from old books.
Yesterday was quite productive, finished a few more cards and worked on a batch of Valentine tags. Hoping to finish the tags today and then I'll begin working on Valentine heart shaped ornaments. Looking forward to sharing them with you soon.
Hope you have a wonderful day.
Be back soon.

I've been working on new items for the Heritage Crafters Gallery...

I've created several birdhouses using vintage music, pages from old books and lots of vintage images. I'm working on several other items, getting ready for Bird Day on January 31st.
The wrought iron stand is another Goodwill find, a real bargain at $1.29. I'm not sure what it is exactly, it has 3 arms, each with one hook. It works great for displaying and also for hanging items to dry. I'm pretty certain it's not for mugs since they normally have at least 4 arms or pegs. If you have any idea what it's original use was, please let me know. It's peaked my curiosity.
Hope your week is going well.
Be back soon.
