Wings...

Let your heart soar.
8 x 10 on canvas
One of the pieces I finished last week. I love this piece, especially the soft colors.
We had a wonderful day at the market, sold a piece of mixed media art and several pieces of photography art.
Currently working on several pieces, hoping to finish a few by the end of the weekend. A bit of holiday decorating done and beginning to feel a bit festive.
Have a great night.
Enjoy!

Big...

The art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on. Henry Ellis
18 x 24
My largest piece to date, thought it was 16 x 20 when I was posting the other day. Interesting choice of colors, out of the norm for me. This piece is entirely post stroke and I believe that my art has changed in small ways. When my daughter, Amy, saw it, her first reaction was Mardi Gras. I've framed it in a black floater frame and it's going to the Lynchburg Art Club for their Christmas Show and Sale along with 2 other pieces. One of those pieces I'll be sharing tomorrow.
It's the eve of Thanksgiving, always my favorite holiday although the last three years have been hard. This year will be difficult too, our fourth holiday without Deb. She also loved Thanksgiving and she's the biggest part of why it was always to special to me. All those wonderful traditions are gone now but still so much to be thankful for, even more so this year. I thank God daily for all the wonderful blessing in my life and for allowing me the time to enjoy them. I am truly blessed and so very thankful.
Have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving.
Enjoy!

6 x 9 Art Journal page
It's been a great week, getting a lot done. Several more canvas pieces started including 2 large ones. Just finished a 16 x 20 piece, my largest to date, and will share some photos soon. I'm also working on 2 pieces for an exhibit early next year, in my situation, never too early to begin. May not have any new photos to share for a few days but will get new posted as soon as I can.
A busy weekend ahead, hope yours is fabulous.
Enjoy!

Coffee break...

Java, 4 x 4 canvas

 Enjoy, 4 x 4 Canvas

I have been a coffee drinker for years however since my stroke, I cannot stand the smell nor taste. It's the strangest thing. In the beginning, I thought it was the coffee in the hospital, it tasted like dirt. Now I know that it's all coffee including my favorite treat, iced mocha. I've also found that I can no longer drink tea or eat chocolate.  It could have so much worse so I'm not complaining.
Enjoy!

Cottage Love...

6 x 6 canvas

One of the pieces I had finished before I got sick.

I went back to the  Neuro Ophthalmologist yesterday and had more tests done. My vision field has improved and there is no damage to my optic nerves  however my vision is still impaired. She agrees with the Neurologist that the vision issues are a result of the stroke rather than the disease. It affected the area of my brain that controls my vision. Getting new glasses that will help with some close up vision however probably will never drive again. I'm ao thankful for the healing that has occured and will learn to live with my new limitations however I am in the process of seeking second opinions. It will be a slow process to create again but looking forward to doing whatevere I can once I get my new glasses.
The journey is still on going.

Home...

there's no place like home
8 x 10 canvas
Minor surgery on Friday and healing has begun although it's going to be a longer process than planned. Just not getting back to normal as quickly as I would like. Spent Sunday night and all day yesterday in Fredericksburg awaiting the arrival of our 7th grandchild. Jayden Scott Haun arrived yesterday at 2:16pm, 7lbs, 4oz and 19 inches long. He's beautiful and we are so thankful that he arrived healthy. He has been in the NICU since 5am this morning for reflux issues however this afternoon he finally ate without any issues, he's doing great and they should all go home sometime tomorrow. There's no place like home.
I would have loved to stayed with them longer but really needed to get back home so I can get myself well and feeling better. Truly, there's no place like home.
Have a great evening.
Enjoy!

Enjoy the journey...

6 x 6 canvas
Words to live by. I often have to remind myself to slow down.
In the midst of preparing for the festival and exhibit I have coming up, I find myself having a few minor health issues. Nothing too serious but they must be dealt with and all I can think about are all the things I need to get done over the next 2 months. It's a sign, time to slow down, take care of the important things and enjoy the journey.
Enjoy!

Spread your wings...

Spread your wings
8 x 10 canvas
The butterflies were created with modeling paste. I made my own stencil using a craft punch. This was my first attempt and they came out extremely thin however worked well for this piece. Love the way they add dimension.
Enjoy!
