A different kind of painting...

After 11 months of being pretty much home bound, I'm on the road again. On our way home from vacation, I decided I just had to get back behind the wheel and get myself driving on my own. The first 6 months after my stroke, I couldn't drive. Then I slowly started again and did fine however I was filled with fear, so stressed and unable to relax and decided that I might have to live with not being able to go on my own. While on vacation I did an lot of thinking and soul searching. I realized that I needed my independence back and so I made the decision and ran (or drove) with it. Within a week, I was on my own and have been burning up the roads for 3 weeks now. I feel alive again.
One of the things I've done is take a furniture painting class at Blue Sky Cottage.
Here is my piece...

Before
After 2 coats of Maison Blanch Paint in Colette.
Today I added a coat of dark wax. Isn't this color just awesome!
I post more photos when I get it finished.

Hannah's Box...

I made this box for my granddaughter, Hannah. She was admiring the tiles I had made on her last visit, she loves arts and crafts and had lots of questions about how I made them.. I make the tiles with leftover polymer clay from other projects. I used modeling paste tinted with yellow paint for the grout. Several coats of vinyl floor wax to seal.  Look forward to celebrating her 8th birthday next month.
Enjoy!

On my table...

This is what I've been working on the past few weeks. Most of these were created with white polymer clay and then painted. Many more to come...

Outer Banks 2013...

Vacation was relaxing and wonderful again this year. Coffee on the deck every morning, walks on the beach every morning and evening, watching the sun rise and lots of quiet time were just a few of my favorites things about this year's trip. The weather was not wonderful the first part of the week but by mid-week it was beautiful. Water was extremely cold compared to last year and temperatures were much lower, still a fabulous trip.
Here are a few of my favorite photos from the week...
The sun just peeking over the horizon.

Love watching the pelicans hunt for food.

Makes me want to watch the Mighty Ducks.
Did not see as many dolphins as last year, the cold
water may have had something to do with it. Beautiful
creatures, love watching them.

We have already reserved the house for next year.
Love Kitty Hawk, North Carolina!
Enjoy!

Project...

A few weeks ago, while junkin' in AltaVista, I purchased 2 glass candlesticks and 2 glass divided dishes. I used Liquid Nails (clear) to glue the dishes to the candlesticks. $3.74 and some glue and I now have 2 lovely pieces on my work table.  Not a very good photo, my apologies. Enjoy!
